The Olabisi Onabanjo Literary and Debating Society (OOULADS) is more than a campus organization—it is a home for ideas, voices, and lifelong growth. Founded in 2018, OOULADS was created to restore depth, purpose, and intellectual value to student engagement at Olabisi Onabanjo University.

At its core, OOULADS brings together poets, writers, speakers, and critical thinkers who share a passion for meaningful discourse. Through debates, public speaking, writing, and poetry, members are encouraged to think critically, argue logically, and engage thoughtfully with societal issues and possible solutions. Every session is designed to sharpen the mind while building confidence, discipline, and respect for diverse perspectives.

What sets OOULADS apart is its inclusive and collaborative spirit. Whether you’re stepping behind the podium for the first time or already confident in your voice, the Society offers a supportive environment where ideas are tested through dialogue, not dominance, and growth is continuous.

Beyond competitions and formal events, OOULADS fosters friendships, leadership, and skills that last a lifetime. By promoting articulate expression and reasoned dialogue, the Society prepares its members for success not just within the university, but in professional, civic, and global spaces.

OOULADS is, simply put, where words grow into wisdom—and learning never stops.
