We Are on A Mission
The Olabisi Onabanjo Literary and Debating Society (OOULADS) is a vibrant intellectual community committed to nurturing confident voices and critical minds. We bring together poets, writers, speakers, and thinkers who share a passion for meaningful dialogue, creative expression, and informed debate. OOULADS provides a safe, inclusive space where ideas are freely expressed, perspectives are challenged, and members grow in clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Our History
We have been promoting intellectualism in Olabisi Onabanjo University since
Our Society’s Legacy of Intellectual Growth
OOULADS was founded in 2018 by Smart Olawale, a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Mass Communication, alongside a team of brilliant minds across the Department of Law and Mass Communication. The Society emerged from the need to restore depth and intellectual value to student engagement, as many campus activities lacked meaningful learning and critical reflection.

Nurturing Leaders for a Brighter Tomorrow
The Society made its competition debut in 2019 with OJBAW0 and has since hosted a series of impactful events, including debates, call-out sessions, writing competitions, and poetry contests. Over the years, OOULADS has grown through multiple leadership administrations each contributing to the Society’s growth and relevance.
Our Presence Across All OOU Campuses
